KEEP IN CIRCULATION A WORD TO FARMERS The Whakatane Primary Production Council has been advised, that all users of sacks should take steps to ensure that as soon as sacks ai"e emptied they arie immediately consigned tO' sack merchants for sorting and re-conditioning. A •difficult position has arisen with new stock; the operations of Japan in Burma and the Indian Ocean has made' it imperative' that existing supplies must he nursed. • A wanton amount of. waste is apparent on many farms; heaps of sacks are thrown carelessl}' in a shed for rats to work on, or spread on fences to rot. If that continues an acute setback to deliveries will eventuate. The sack merchants in consultation with the National Council are making preparations, how best they can serVe the farming interests in collecting and all jute goods. Surplus sacks and bags of all kinds have a definite resale value, chaff etc. around. 10s dozen, super bags according to conditions 3s to (is per dozen, cement, lime 2s to 2s Gel per dozen. Users should periodically bundle up their surplus ancl consign them freight forward to merchants in Auckland (per boat) or Hamilton (per rail) The local mercantile firms haVe offered their co-operation in the collecting scheme, any lots, sent them will be forwarded to Auckland on behalf of clients.) Users of sacks should not treat this warning- lightly, as failure to respond may lead to penalties in the future delivery of bagged goods.
