Food Dump Reporting to tlic E.P.S. meeting last Thursday, the secretary of the Whakatane service stated that he had been advised of a bulk depot being established, which was being stocked as rapidly as circumstances permitted. War Damage Insurance War damage cover for property situated in the Pacific Islands is regarded as a matter of urgency by New Zealand commercial interests and a rcccnt. communication to the Rt. Hon. P. Frascr, as acting-Minis-ter 'of Finance, from the Associated Chambers of Commerce, urged that early action be taken by the Government to -have the owners of property in those territories protected by the War Damage Act. The action was approved by the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Relief Goods for England l Advices have just been received that a further large shipment of relief gift goods sent through the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society has arrived safely in Engjand. The War Organisation of the British Red Cross Society has asked that publicity be given to' the fact that the goods are a very welcome gift. It is also stated that they are not. only greatly appreciated, but that they will be most htelpfu! in these tfays of stress,, and especially for the coming cold weather.
