WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
GATHERING AT MATATA Tlie Matata Woman's Institute held its monthly meeting on Oct-* ober 1, when Mrs Magee presided over a fair attendance. The meeting' opened with the "Ode to Friendship" after which Mrs Withy read the Aspirations. An invitation was read from the Whakatane W.L and it is: hoped that some members will be able to attend. Miss Burt read the balance sheet from the flower show. It was very pleasing to note that the show was a huge success. During the afternoon eleven parcels for soldiers overseas were pack- * ed and sewn up. Two delegates were selected, Mrs Magee and Mrs Cummings, to attend the bi-annual meeting at Wai-« man a. Competitions were won as follows: Best flower, Mirs Magee 1; Mrs Schick 2; Miss Burt 3. The hostesses, Mrs Smith and Mrs Schick, served afternoon tea which brought the meeting to a close.
