WHAKATANE SCOTS' EVENING
AUCKLAND VISITOR HONOURED
Mr J. McKay .of Auckland, was the guest at the last Ingleside promoted- by the Whakatane Caledonian SocT-ety last week. Piped into the hall he assisted materially to* wards tli'e evening's, success by his bright engaging' personality and address.
The usual happy crowd attended and. once again the time passed all! too quickly in modern and old-time dancing, music for which' was supplied by the Rhythm Aces orchestra.
Piper Alf Ferguson made a capable M.C. and features of the evening were two Monte Carlo dances which created* much fun.i
The Popular Girls' Competition was opened and nominations received from those present included the names of many prominent young ladies. The result of the evening's voting was: Ist placj 21, 2nd place Ki. 3rd place 8.
