.MOVE FOR BAY ASSOCIATION
FIVE IN FAVOUR
At the last meeting of the Whakaiane County Council the County Clerk reported that replies had now been received from the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Local Bodies on the matter of the formation of a Local Authorities Association. Summarised •decisions were:— Te Puke Borough Council—Not in favour. Opoti'lu Borough Council—Postponement recommended. Wliakatane Borough Council—Unable to see any necessity for establishment of Association. Tauranga County Council —Matter held in abeyance for future consideration. -.Opotiki County Council—ln favour—thought many of the problems of Borough Councillors differ from problems of Connty Councillors. Tauranga Borough Council—To agreement with proposal. Rotorua County Council—Prepared to join Association. Mt. Maunganui Town Board—Willing to join Association. Rotorua Borough Council—-Sup-ports formation of Association. After a brief discussion it "was decided that if Tauranga County Council was prepared to j,oin Association that Rotorua and Bay of Plenty •Counties Local Bodies " Association be formed with 11 f• proviso- that when the majority of the Borough Councils wish to join the Association the constitution be altered to Rotorua and. Bay of Plenty Rating JLooal Authorities Association.
