Where fayre ladies pined, or improved shining hours Spinning and weaving, pictorial screeds Depicting their warriors glorious | deeds Sussex is proud of her rolling South Downs That shelter quaint hamlets and old. fashioned towns • And world famous pastures, divorced from the plough Since the Danes and the Saxons imported the coav, In Sussex lived men, who adorn history"s page Hie Fitzallens and Howards did much for their age Wilberforce Tennyson, Kipling and Manning Arc names that need, no introduction or fanning. The white cliffs, pebble beaches and firm golden sands Esplanades, Peirs, entertainments and bandsDraw thousands -of trippers for a glorious day Of maximum pleasure, for minimum pay. The sea-board, of Sussex, now bristles with guns, With crews ready and waiting to welcome the Huns. The threatened live long. Hitler's coming is slow Meanwhile Allied armies continue to grow Which will reverse the order, and soon will be showing Instead of his coming, Hitler is going To get it" severely somewhere in the nedk And eventually in his dishonoured cheque.
