CLEARING SALE
♦ MR P. BROPHY'S HERD
Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd., report an unsatisfied demand at Mr P. Brophy's clearing sale when his herd 'of HQ cows and heifers met with spirited competition. Straight bred Jerseys mostly in milk and in good condition they were attractive cattle and averaged £13 per head. Quality, cows sold readily from £10 to £21; plainer cows £12 to £14; older cows and late calvers £8 15s ;to £12. Pjfes were in keen demand, sows selling from £4 10s to £6 10s and good stores from £2 to £3 6s; weaners made 225. Altogether the sale was very satisfactory.
