POSSIBLE RALLY I'Ol!

WHAKATANE

Twenty-six delegates representing Tauranga, Te Puke, Paengaroa, Opotiki and Whakatane attended the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Scouit Troops under control of Commissioner F. N. Christian last Saturday evening in the Caledonian Hall, Whakatane. Hon. B. C. Robbins, M.L.C., Chairman of the Tauranga Troop was also ill attendance and spoke on the steady expansion of the movement.

Apologies Avere received from the Rev. A. N. Hutchings (Te Puke), and Mir S. T. King (Opotiui) .

The balance slice i which was presented by the secretary (Mr H. WardAllen) showed a credit of £15 19s was read and adopted.: Mr WardAl'len was rc-clecled secretary.

Discussing the possibilities of holding the annual rally this year, the claims of Wliakatane as a prospective centre, with two existing troops were advanced. After a brief discussion it was estimated that if the rally were held here it would mean probably a week-end of activity and entertainment, owing to the transport difficulties.

A tentative suggested programme consisted of the rally on Saturday, a campfire meeting on Saturday evening, a church service on Sunday morning and a hike to Ghope on Sunday afternoon.

The programme had the instant support of the meeting and it was decided to hold the rally if possible in Wliakatane, the details 1 of the date and other arrangements to be left to the Wliakatane committees to arrange. Patrol Leaders Camp The question of arranging if possible a Patrol leaders camp for the benefit of the leading Scouts throughout, the Bay was next discussed, and it was decided: to arrange such a camp provided Commissioner Southron of Te Poi could be prevailed upon to take, change of it.

Congratulatory notes to Commissioners Christie and Cooksey on the recent distinctions conferred upon them by the King Avere unanimously decidepl upon on the motion of the chairman Commissioner Christian.

The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Caledonian Society for the use of its hall with especial appreciation for the services of the ladies who supplied the supper.
