WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT BE>GE!CUMBE

The September meeting of Edgecumbe W.I. was held in the hall on Tuesday. Mrs Hodson presided and there was a good attendance. The meeting opened with the Ode to Friendship and the Aspirations. Routine business was dealt with including remits for the forthcoming Council meeting at Waimana and Mirs Le Lievre and Mrs Bufgess were chosen as delegates to the meeting. The report of tlu; Dominion Representative Council was read. A Avail competition was won by Mrs Snelling. Hints on glove making were givi en by Mrs Rendall, a visitor from Auckland. Mrs Rendall also contributed two songs to the entertainment programme which were very much enjoyed. A bring and buy stall for soldiers' parcels, did. brisk business. Competitions were won as follows: —Best flower, Mrs Wilson 1; Mrs Jcsperson 2. Gardening apron, Mrs List 1; Mrs Burgess 2.. Vegetable posy, Mrs Burgess 1; Mrs List 2. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for the afternoon, Mrs Speirs and Mrs Malpas. The meeting ended with the National Anthem.
