CAKES AND PUDDINGS 111 response to- representations mad'.-: bv the New Zeal ami Post Office, the British Ministry of Food has agreed to persons in New Zealand being allowed to post to civilian addresses in the United Kingdom for thr>. forthcoming Christmas period cakes and fruit puddings lip to Lhe fu!l weight limit of 51b gross allowed in respect of any one gift parcel. Normally, the quantity of any one foodstiiiT enclosed in a parcel may not exceed 21b in weight. "This concession," said the Post-masLer-tieneral, Mr Webb, "will rc-. main in force until October 31, and although no guarantee can he given that ihc parcels . posted under it will reach Great Britain in time for Christmas, the. concession will enable people in New Zealand to send cakes and puddings of a greater weight than is normally possible. On no account must gilt parcals exceed 51b in weight. The British Post Office has stated that parcels found l o be over-weight will be seized. To avoid disappointment to the recipients as well as to themselves, tenders should, keep their parcels strictl3 r within the weight limit of 51b gross." i . -
