COAL SHORTAGE—RESTRICTED TRAIN SERVICES AUCKLAND, WHANGAREI, OPUA, OKAIHAU, DARGAVILLK AUCKLAND- WAIUKU, GLEN AFTON, TAUMARUNUI, FRANKTON FUNCTION, CAMBRIDGE, ROTO RUA, THAMES, TANEATUA COMMENCING ON WEDNESDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 1942 and continuing until further notice, passenger and goods trains in the above areas will,, with the exception o 1 Workers' Suburban trains, be considerably curtailed. These restrictions include the suspension of the running of the Limited Express Trains between Auckland and Wellington: the express trains between Auckland and New Plymouth; the 7.23 a.m. FranktonAuckland passenger train and the Auckland-Hamilton Sunday Excursion trains. The Audkland-Whangarei-Opua express trains will run on Monday. Wednesday and Fridays only. The Auckland Taneatua Express trains will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays -only. The Auckland Rotorua Express Trains will run on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays only. All travel permits and reserva- , tions for journeys on and aftei Wednesday 16th September arc cancelled. Intending passengers will require to make fresh applications for permission to travel. Permits will now be required; foi all journeys exceeding 50 miles and will be issued only for essential journeys. IN ORDER.
