MEETING AT MATATA

The monthly meeting of the Matata Women's Institute vras held on Wednesdaj r last, when Mrs Ma gee presided over a good attendance in spite of the inclemency of the weather. The meeting opened with the Ode to Friendship followed by t.he AspirationsA very successful Bring and. Buy was held for the Makogai Leper fund. Arrangements were made lor the provision of- soldiers' parcels for Christmas. The annual Flower Show is to be held on Wednesday, September 23. Competitions were as follows:— Best flower: Mrs Ansell 7, Mrs H. Withy 2, Miss Burt 3. Sultana scones: Mrs H. Withy 1, Mrs Smith 2, Mils Magee 3 -

A vote of thanks was accorded the hostesses Mrs H. Withy and Miss Topp, and a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close.
