NEW YORK SALVS CALLED WAR CONFERENCE New York Slavs foresaw the beginning of the end of Hitlerism and the early liberation of their brothers and sisters in conquered Europe as a result of the. Second Front, agreement rcachcd by President Roosevelt and Soviet Foreign Commissar Molotov., Heartened by the news, t-lie American Slav Committee of Greater New York called a special all-day conference on Sunday, June 21, at Manhattan Centre to mobilise the Slav nationalities for the knock-out blow. June 21, celebrated throughout the country as American Siav Day brought together -thousands of New York Russians, Jugoslavs, Poles, Czcehs, Ukrainians, Bulgarians and others, who formulated a programme l'or victory. In the evening an all Slav Festival was held with noted national artists, choruses and dance groups. Demonstrations for Unity in War Pittsburg: The American Slav Congress announced from national headquarters that Slavs throughout the nation are rolling up their big guns for the win the Avar programme adopted at the recent Congress held in Detroit. In Chicago, American Slav Day was celebrated on June 21 with 100,000 participants in Soldiers Field. California Slavs also held a large Slav Fiesta which called for the opening of a Western front. Maryland Slavs organised similar actions. Cleveland, in support of the President's call for more 1 banners and parades, the Slavs of Cleveland, celebrated their unity for victory Avit.li a huge parade on June 21. 200 Slav organisations participating.
