RACING NOTES
A DERBY PROSPECT Going out to contest the Admixalty Handicap at Ellerslie, his first race of the season, Mr W. S. GoosI man's Representative looked well, and was made first, favourite. He ran a fair race to finish in fourth place. He is looked upon as a Great Northern Derby prospect, and is quite likely to justify any good opinions now being formed of his future prospects. SUBJECT TO IMPROVEMENT I In the Jcllicoe Handicap at the Pakuranga meeting Bonnie Pay, I making Iris first, essa} 7- over a (lisi-'J tance of a mile, got away too slowly from the barrier to have any I chance in the race. In the matter of racing condition he is subject to improvement and may be running very prominently in spring events. LOWRY BAY ✓ The Foxliglit. representaivc Lowry Bay, who was in the money at Tc J Rajja, Ellerslie and Riccarton and who is trained by S. H. Green at Hastings, is said to have improved as the result of his racing in jmln tic, and this season is looked upon as likely to loom large in open handicap company. A QUICK RECOVERY Royal Star 11, owned in Hawke's Baj r , who went sore just before the J Wellington Winter meeting, where he was engaged in the Whyte Handicap, and had to be allotted a paddock spell, lias made such a rapid recovery that he has again been recommissioned . Providing that he can be got ready before the tracks become too firm, the English imported horse may add to his winning account. WORKING WELL Mr Frank Ormond's Yogi, a winI ner during the winter and who was unsuccessful at the Wellington meeting, is being prepared at Hastings for some of the big handicaps to be decided within the next few weeks. CHANGE OF LOCATION The Taranaki trainer, Sid Mc~ Graal, has purchased a property atPukekohc, and Avill transfer his horses from Hawcra within the next few weeks. A PROMISING MAIDEN I Bei t .Tinker avlio has not lately been high up in the trainers' successful list, produced, at the Pakuranga meeting a promising candidate in the filly Precisely, by Vaals ' Exactly. She is in racing condition and registered a close third. LACK OF EXPERIENCE Mr W. S. Goosman's Town Survey, who lias lately been schooled over the battens, was made a firm favourite at Ellerslie in his first es. say over the jump. The public, however, were just, a little too soon, improbably through lack of jumping experience he tipped out at the second to last obstacle. He is likely to do much better in his next hurdling attempt.. LUCK NOT YET IN Included in Frank Tutehen's team at Te Rapa is the Kincardine representative, Ivinstep, which, however, has not yet experienced a tuihi of luck. At Ellerslie, after leading in the Sjdvia Park Handicap from the rise of the tapes, and nearing the post looking a certain winner Avas topped oil' by the last finishing Lord Chancellor. Ivinstep may do better in his next outing. IN THE LIMELIGHT It transpires that Sally Limn much in the limelight lately folloAv'.ng i her series o!" wins, and her del'ee-i Lions from the Whyte Handicap i nd Winter Cup. received injuries in the running nf ih, August Handicap through being g,-Hoped in by ai - oilier runner.
