Mechanical Traffic Control It would seem that mechanical control of traffic in Auckland is ly to be postponed until after the war. The City Council has granted a request of a firm which had tendered for the supply of vehicleactuated signal mechanism that its deposit be returned. The firm suggested that no doubt, when times became normal, fresh tenders-would, be invited. Tractors' on Roads A concession to farmers who may wish to use tractors for the cartage of milk or whey to or from dairy factories has been made by an order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations. Last year farmers were' permitted to use tractors and trailers on roads for the catage of lime or other fertilisers • within certain limits without having to pay annual licence fees. The same exemption now applies to the carriage of milk or whey as described, and no limitaion is imposed on the length of trip between farm, and factory.
