OUT FOR SPELL Rcnarde failed to show form when C. C. McCarthy brought her to race in the North Island, and she lias been sent back to her owner, Mrs G. L. Rutherford. The form of the Foxbridge filly has been far below that of her sister, Foxola. A SPLENDID PROFIT The 1 Auckland Trotting Club's recent Patriotic meeting resulted in a profit of £4049 with the addition of the Government £ for £ subsidy the amount handed over to the All Purposes Fund was £8098 fis 4tl. Thus is the sport of trotting doing its part towards the War Effort. OUT FOR A TERM The successful apprentice rider, S. J. Green, of Christchurcli, has had his license suspended until the end of October. LOOKING WELL AHEAD The 1 well known Hastings trainer, Harry Gre'ene, has a high opinion of one of his junipers, Arabic, and considers him a likely candidate for 1943 Grand National honours. Arabic is a seven year old gelding by Lord Qunex—Arab Song. In fifteen starts last season he scored three victories, two seconds and a third. FOR AVONDALE CUP Centrepoise, a convincing winner at the Wellington meeting is now being specially prepared for the Avondale Cup to be run on September J2. READY FOR PAKURANGA Rangi Marsh, of Hastings, is putting in full time in the preparation of Indian Sun and Smooger in view of Itiie Pakuranga meeting at Ellerslie this week. The first named, a recent winner, is engaged in the principal jumping event, while Smooger. who is to represent Mr G'. D. Beatson, will contest the hunters' races. TRAINED AT TE RAPA Air Port, winner of the President's Handicap at tlie Thames meeting is trained by MrS E. I). Sloanc, at Te Rapa, who is scoring well with the jumper Gokl Spot. CALLED INTO QUESTION Tiie Matamatn trained UrekJaw competed in the Hikutaia Hurdles at Paeroa. in which he Avas included in the "also started." Later in the afternoon he was .saddled up for ili'e Thames Steeplechase, .lumping and staying on Avell lie Avon this event. Hetween the running of. th : e two races the Chief Stipendiary asked a question concerning the horse's running in the hurdles and accepted the explanation given. I't Avas duly shown that the stable had backed him for the first race.
