The story - f Boston and a Bostonian who settles into the groove of routine and tradition after one great love experience, Avas brought to the screcn by King Vidor, literally from the pages of the book. Iledy Lamarr plays Marvin Myles, the carccr girl who becomes the one great lovein the life of Pulliam, played by 3'oung. The story covers' a span of
years. Lraeinm Young' experiences from youth to middle age. It is told in retrospect as he prepares a biography for his Harvard class alumni magazine. Ruth liussey plays the Boston girl whom Pulliam eventually marries, as destined by his family. Van Hell in portrays Pulliam's friend and confidant Bill King. Charles Coburn is seen as Pulliam, Senior, and Fay Molden ass Young's mother. Bonita Granville plays his sister Mary, and Leif Erikson "80-Jo" Brown, his football idol at college.
