KILLINGS TO JULY 18

The official figures of killings for the present season at the 1 Dominion's Freezing Works from 3st October till July IS, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings to that date total 11.019.1 JS carcases, this being a decrease of 158,190 carcases compared with the killings to July 19 last season. Wether mutton killings are 759,187 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,960,965 carcases, compared with 615,606 and 1,560,253 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses arc as follows: North Island Lamb 5,786,436 (5,801,764) Wether mutton 672,286 ( 515,798) Lwe mutton 1,156,907 ( 874,161) South Island Lamb 5,262,712 (5,405,574) Wether mutton 86,901 ( 99,848) Ewe mutton 804,058 ( 686;092) Frozen beef production is now 613.239 quarters compared with. 687757 quarters last season. Porker killings total 199,723 carcases, a decrease of 19,068. whilst baconers total 220,341 carcases, a decrease of. 64.784.
