LETTERBOX RANSACKED
CONTENTS WIDELY SCATTERED POLICE ENQUJHI lIS PROCEEDING The contents of a public letter box in Commerce Street were scattered over a wide area (as far away as King Street) last Tuesday night when some person or persons unknown forced the lock and broke into the re>ceptacle. From enquiries made by the police throughout Wednesday it is obvious that the vandals operated, on the box some time after 11.30 p.m., as it was known to be intact prior to that time. The letters were scattered far and wide, many of them opened, and the' task of collecting them and sorting them out again was the unenviable duty of the local postal stall". However as far as is known, it is thought that practically all the mail is now accounted for. Any information . which may tend to throw light on the subject would be welcomed by the police.
