\V. J. Broughton is again at the head of the jockeys' list for the seasou with 45 wins, followed by P. Spratt 34, 11. P. Stewart 37, and S. J. Green and A. Messervey (equal) 25.
SIRES OF WINTER PERFORMERS
Hunting Song, whose stock always perform better when the sting is out of the ground, was the most successful sire in respect to the Wellington meeting, with winners of £1995. The Night Raid gelding Nightly came next with £1115.
MAY BE CHANGED
There is some uncertainty as to the dates for this year's New Zealand Cup meeting. The Canterbury Jockey Club has been allotted November 21st and 28th, but there is a reasonable prospect of their being changed to November 28th and December stli. DAILY IMPROVING Master Lackham, who registered a second to Ghat in the Auckland Winter Steeples, and later developed a splint, through which he could not compete at Trentham, is executing steady work daily, and Avill compete in the Grand National Steeplechase. «> THE WINTER CUP The three placed horses in the 1941 Winter Cup, Treasurer, Bolojma and St. Cloud, are engaged again this year. Austral Flame, winner of the Grand National Steeples, and The Dozer, who prevailed in the Grand National Hurdles, are missing from the list this time. THE PROVIDENT FUND The New Zealand Racing Conference Provident Fund has accumulated funds amounting to £12,297. The income last year exceeded the expenditure by £200. THE THAMES MEETING Included in the programme for! the Thames Jockey Club's winter j meeting to be held at P aero a on August Bth, are two steeplechases and one hurdle race. There are seven events, which may be increased to eight if any race lias entries! over the safetv number.
