CRIPPLED CHILDREN

ESTABLISHING SUB-CENTRES

ADVICE TO WHAKATANE

For the purpose of gaining better coverage the N.Z. Crippled Child-

reirs Society has advised the County Council that its executive had appointed Mrs Claudia Ford, a trained nurse, as Supervisor of crippled children work. Such action had been strongly urged by the N.Z. Crippled Children Society because the Society's work in the country is mostly at a standstill. It was proposed to establish sub-centres in each

hospital town in the province. Mrs Ford would attend meetings of the sub-centres and act as a liaison officer between committees and the Society's Executive. In the past local bodies had acted as the Society's representatives and it was hoped

that they would continue to be interested in the work, as each cripple saved from becoming a pensioner reduced the burden of taxes by a considrable amount. Mrs Ford would visit each hospital centre- shortly, in order to discuss with the local body and hospital authority the formation of a sub-centre in their town. The Society Avould be grateful for any comments or suggestions in respect to this proposal. .
