GATHERING AT EDGECUMBE

The monthly meeting of the Edgecumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday Inst, Mrs Hodson presiding over a good attendance ol members. The meeting opened with the singing of the Ode to. Friendship and a prayer led by Mrs Hod- 1 son. M Woollen comforts knitted by members for Ihe men of the me reliant navy were on view and a t urther supply of wool was distributed' lor knitting. call "A book I can recommend'' was productive of m-any an interchange , of opinion as to authors and books. A wall competition was won by Miss Peppcrell. Members were asked to saw* all j used rubber for re-conditioning. A' most interesting talk was given on "Physical Education" by Mrs Burrell. An interesting" demonstration on the making of felt bags, was given by Mrs Spcirs. This proved most popular and members agreed to meet on the morning of next Institute d'aj' to make bags. The competition results were as follows- —Best face cloth, Airs Peppcrell 1, Mrs Burgess 2. Best mould of brawn.. Mrs List 1. Best flower, Mrs Russell 1, Mrs Peppcrell 2. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mrs Cole, Mrs 1 Wilson, Mrs J. Shaw ami Miss J. Irving. The National Anthem concluded'a very pleasant afternoon.
