COUNTY COUNCIL'S OBJECTION

The question of the responsibility imposed by the Govern>memt upon employers to collect arrears of union fees, was the subject of diScuslsioni at the County Council meeting yesterday. Cr Luxton asked what tlie collection of union fees had to do with employers? Tlie clerk said in the past it had be?n usual for the Income Tax Department to seek the employers cooperation for the collection of arrears. Cr McCready: Arc we going to take all this lying down ? The. chairman: I think we could at l?ast pass a resolution objecting to it. If the unions cannot collect their dues then there's something wrong with the unions. The council unanimously agreed to write registering its protest.
