DUAL FAREWELL
MESSRS SEARLE AND HUNTER
WHAKATAXE CLUB GATHERING
Some fifty members of the Whaatane Gentlemen's Club gathered
last Friday evening for the purpose of officially saying fa re well to Messrs H. J. E. Sarle (for the past nine years manager of the; local branch of the Rank of Australasia) and L. Hunter (for many years one of Whakatanc's best-known carriers). Most of those present joined l 111 voicing their mesages of goodwill, wishing both guests of the occasion the best of luck and prosperity. Mr Les Littlcjohn the club prcsi-i dent, then presented Mr Searle with a desk ink-stand and Mr Hunter with a mantel clock. Both recipients responded feelingly, claiming that they would always remomber the happy associations connected with Whakatane and the numerous friendships made here. A light supper concluded the proceedings. Mr Searle leaves shortly for Te Puke, and Mr Hunter will retire to Tauranga.
