HOME GUARDSMAN H. J. E SEARLE

On Tuesday evening the residence of Airs W. S. Henderson, Francis Street, Avas the scene of a bright party tendered by the Home Guard Engineers in honour of Guardsman H. J. E. Searle who has been transferred to Te Puke.

A presentation of a leather wallet Mas made during the evening by Lt. Henderson, "who, in addition to expressing regret at Mr Searle's departure, stated that his Home Guard keenness and the fact that he did not miss a single • parade, had had an excellent influence in the platoon. Capt. Littlejohn, Sgt. T. Hansen and Guardsmen Bathe, Haynes and Whittaker also spoke in eulogistic terms.
