Com-» petition was very spirited for all classes of stock and practically a total clearance was effected. Jersey cows close to profit and guaranteed sound made from £7 to £11 15s; backward, from £5 to £6 15s; Jersey heifers, good quality, and early calvers, from £10 to £12 10s; August calvcrs from £8 to £9 10s; later calvers from £5 to £7 10s; fat cows and heifers were in short supply and keenly sought after bringing from £6 to £7 3s; killable cows from £4 10s to £5 15s; cull cows from £1 10s to £-1, according to weight.
