THE "GOOD ENDEAVOUR" LEAGUE FOR YOUNG READERS ONLY
What ho, what ho, ma hearties
Here we are once again after a wet and -windy week. But tliank heavens we are as lively as ever and well prepared for the ehillness of the southerly blast. Well now, let me see what I can tell } r ou about this vvcek. Oh 3'es, I know! Butinsky has a new mate. Yo,u'll never guess what it is? He found it underneath a rocky ledge during the last rain storm, with a broken flipper. Now you know what it was—a baby penguin. Well it was whimpering just like a baby Avhen Butinsky found it and he smelt it iirst and then set up such a baa-a-a that I came scrambling down the slope all excited. Well we , carried him very carefully Into the hut and put him in a box by the fire. Next morning he was quite perky. He stopped his whimpering and ate such a terriiic meal of raw fish, I thought he would burst. Butinsky banged away at the door to have a look in but I keep him out of doors as you know and yelled to him to be quiet. Well I decided to call the new comer Pcterkin, after myself for I have grown so fond of him. He's been with me for the best part of a week and is now quite at home. He hops in and out the cave and when he's hungry he makes a noise like a dirty water pipe. I don't know how long he'll stay but I hope he becomes one of my pets for good. Yours till next week P.T.W.
