NO WIRE STAPLES
POSTING OF ACCOUNTS BUSINESSMEN TAKE NOTICE Writing the 'Beacon' relative, to the growing practice of posting accounts and invoices without envelopes, the local Postmaster, Mr A. Lattimore, states as under:— With the acute shortage of paper, many business firms are adopting, the expedient of posting invoices&c., without envelopes. The Department desires to afford full co-opera-tion in this paper-saving effort, but wishes it to be known generally that certain requirements must be met. Briefly, these are as follows: — <1) The minimum size of the pap>r when folded must not be less than approximately 4in by 2%in. (2) Wire staples must not be used. <3) A space of is to be left *it the top of the address side for postage stamps and postmarks and the address only must be shown on Hie remainder of that side. The Department's objection to the*. use of wire staples is that they damage not only the postmarking heads by scoring and lining them, but also the rubber rollers, which are now o.xtremely difficult to replace. i
