OBITUARY

MRS G. W. MEXTED

A well known and beloved resident of the Thornton district, Mrs G. W. Mexted, passed away at a private hospital in Auckland, on July Ist, after a very brief illness. The sad news came as a great shock to a large circle of friends;, Mrs Mexted's kindly and cheerful nature and unfailing thought for others, endearing her to all with whom she came in contact.The late Mrs Mexted was born in New Plymouth, and was the fourth daughter of the late Mr and Mrs R. B. Honeyfield, Moturoa, New Plymouth. Her marriage to Mr G. W. Mexted took place in St. Thomas* Church, Wellington, on November 20, 1921, and from that time they have lived at Thornton, and have tak** en a keen interest in all the activities of the district, Mrs Mexted being always an energetic and willing helper. She is survived by her husband and two daughters and two* sons, for whom the deepest sym-» pathy is felt. The funeral took place at Whakatane ®n July 3rd, a large gathering of friends and relatives attending at the homestead, where a short service* was feelingly conducted by the Rev. S. G. Caulton, and afterwards at the graveside, the profusion of beautiful wreaths from near arid far* testifying to the regard and esteem! in which the family is held.
