FAREWELL
MR J. H. FLOWERS THE GUEST
A farewell morning tea was tendered to Mr J. H. Flowers of the Native Department, by the staffs of the Government Departments in the Commercial Chambers, prior to his departure to take up duties as Manpower Officer at Wanganui. Among those present were Mr A. F. Blackburn, Chief Supervisor of Head Office, the Registrar, Mr G. , V". Fordham and Chief Clerk, Mr J. . J. Dillon of Rotorua office who were visiting the district, also Supervisors from outlying districts. Mr Fordham, who spoke on behalf of the staffs of the Whakatane ami Rotorua offices, presented Mr Flowers with a leather suitcase on behalf of the combined staffs and wished him the best of luck in his new -./j sphere. Mr Flowers suitably responded. Mr Blackburn spoke on behalf Head Office and mentioned that Mr Flowers had been with the Department for 27 years and was recognised as a valuable officer and he ex-. pressed his regret that Mr Flowers, was severing his connection with the Department, even if only temporarily. Several officers including those from other departments spoke of their association with Mr Flowers V during his sojourn in this district.
