WAR DAMAGE
MILLIONS IN PREMIUMS
The statement that a total of £1,043,575 had been collected up to the present in premiums under the War Damage Act was made J>y the Prime Minister, the lit. Hon. P. Fraser, when the House of Representatives was discussing the AVar Damage Fund vole in the Estimates. Mr Fraser said the amount; comprised £75:5,575 on the voluntary basis and £:«M),00<) under the compulsory scheme. Referring to a point raised by Mr C. A. "Wilkinson (Independent— Egmont) to the effect that people living in districts unlikely to be affected Ijy bombing should be allowed some premium relief, the Prime Minister said that nobody could say where a bomn might fall. Parliament had decided, when passing the Act, that war damage risk should be spread equally throughout the community, but Parliament could alter the Act at any time it might thi nit desirable.
