THEFT OF A WATCH In the Justices" Court at Te Puke before Messrs J. T. Ecclcton and J. Persey, Sam Tumu pleaded guilty to tlie theft of a pocket watch valued at £1, the property of W. J> McArcavy. Evidence disclosed that Tumu entered Mr MeAreavy's garage two nights previously and while searching in the truck touched a wire which caused the horn to blow. When accosted the explained that he was looking for some string tc tie up some parcels. Next day the watcli was missing and accused finally showed Constable Roberts and Mr McArcavy where he had hidden it in a hedge.

Accused was convicted and sentenced to seven days hard labour.
