ONE WORE COAT FOR 14; YEARS
OVERCOAT WHICH COST £14
Some amusement was caused at a meeting of the Matamata Farmers' Union when a member's comment drew a remark from the president that he had had his coat, which cost £14, for 14 years. Just afterwards a former president walked in, and, in reply to another comment, remarked that he had had his gloves for 10 years. "Both are sure signs the coekie is hard up," commented a member amid loud and good-natured laughter. Both the overcoat and the gloves were of a quality not seen every day*
