WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MATATA MEETING The Matata Women's Institute held their monthly meeting on June 24. Mrs Magee presided over a good attendance. A circular from the Federation was read urging members to collect discarded liles for reconditioning. The Institute has decided to carry on with the potato growing competition. The roll call, "How I manage with my sugar ration," proved interesting,, some members being able to manage quite well, others finding it difficult. A very amusing reading Avas given by Mrs H. Burt on The Discovery of Roast Pork. The competitions were as follows: Best flower, Mrs H. Withy 1; Miss Burt *2; Mrs Ansell 3. Pie Melon . jam, Miss Burt 1; Mrs Ansell 2; Mrs Magec 3. Shortbread, Mrs Ansell 1. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames' Mage® and Raureti, and a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the Nationial Anthem.
