RACING NOTES
THE HENRY BARRIER Last week the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club witnessed a trial of the Henry starting barrier. Full satisfaction was given and the club quickly decided to instal it at all the. starting points at Trentham. THE OTAGO WINNER Prince Flaneur, winner of the Otago Steeplechase, is an aged gelding by Roesnor from Little Duchess. He is owned by Mr J. Lindsay and trained by H. Henderson. FORM OF SALLY LUNN The form disclosed by the tliree-year-old Sally Lunn this season has been high class. She lias .contested nine races, winning six and £1440 in stakes. Sally Lunn has revealed good staying power in her races, and is bred on excellent lines, being by Salmagundi, son of Phalaris and the St. Frisquin mare Salamandre, from Paiglc, by Night Raid from Rose Lady, by Rose Noble son of Charlemagne 11. A FIT HORSE Rara Avis, also due to' leave for Trentham last Tuesday, sprinted a smart four furlongs on the No. 2 grass track on Thursday morning. This four year old does not require much fast work, but will be ready for the job when he takes on the sprint event next Saturday. WILL GET SUPPORT Clansman has evidently trained on satisfactorily since the Great Northern meeting, for he is an acceptor for the Wellington Steeplechase, to be decided on Saturday. At his last start Clansman was third to Chat and Master Lackham in the Winter Steeples at Ellerslie, a head and a neck separating the trio. At Trentham Clansman meets Chat on 101b and Master Lackham on 61b better terms, and is sure to carry plenty of support.
SPRINTER DOING WELL The local sprinter, Grandom, looks | an improved horse since he Avon the Visitors' Handicap at Ellerslie three Aveeks ago. He left for Trentham last Tuesday and should be Avorth folloAving at the southern meeting. The son of Oration and Grand Spirit raced at Trentham as a tAvo year old, AA'here he finished third to Sir Beau and Shikari in the Nursery Handicap run over six furlongs. LIKES WINTER CONDITIONS The. latest track efforts of Aero King and Yes Tor have been quite g'ood enough to Avarrant the trip to the Wellington meeting being undertaken. In the past Aero King has shown his ability to handle winter going, and if the ground is not unduly heavy at Trentham, he Avill proA'e very troublesome. Yes Tor has not had much experience, but can muster up a lot of pace, and is a promising filly. This pair left for Trentham on Tuesday. STEEPLECHASE WEIGHTS In the Wellington Steeplechase, of three and a quarter miles, Foxiana is top Aveight Avith 10.10, next in order being Conflagration 10.8, Clans man 10.7 and Dozie Boy 10.( J. As the Avinner of the Great Northern the latter will be deemed to be well treated.
LIMBOHM FOR STEEPLES A Grand National Hurdles winner, Limbohm has lately resumed schooling over the battens. He has shoAvn capability over the big obstacles, and it has been decided that lie shall join the ranks of cross-country candidates. If he takes kindly to the new department he should be winning prominently before the winter is over. CAMBRIDGE REPRESENTATION Cambridge will be. represented at the Wellington fixture by Radiant Yaals and Prince Louis, a winner and runner-up respectively at the Auckland Winter meeting. W.
