USE OF TELEPHONES
At last Executive meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union .Mr R. R. Blade brought up the question of improving the telephone facilities in the North Auckland area. Now that transport facilities were so restricted the use of the telephone was more essential than ever, but with the Armed Forces having priority over the toll lines settlers often had to wait for hours seeking to get a connection. He was advised that it was not a question of ; fresh material, which all knew ivas scarce, but of technical alterations in the system, which local postmasters had sought, but without success. It was decided to make representations to the Government on the matter.
