BULL BEEF SUBSIDY
FARMERS' OWN MONEY At the last executive meeting of the Auckland Fanners' Union reference was made to the increase in the subsidy on bull beet' to (is per hundred announced by the Minister of Marketing', bringing, the total price to 9s per hundred. Mr R. R. Blacle, Chairman of the Meat Committee, said it was estimated that bulls tilled during the coming season would total about 30,000. On that basis, the cost of the subsidy would be ap-> proximately £15,000 and as it would come out of the meat pool it w T as only a comparatively small refund of the farmers' own money. Mr A. J. Campbell (Waikino) said that many of the surplus bulls would not be available for quittance until October or November, ami suggested that the period for closing the subsidy should extend bej'ond the date at present fixed, namely September 30. It was decided to support this suggestion.
