DAIRY FARM WAGES

At last Executive meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union Mr R. J. Glasgow reported upon a conference that had been held in Wellington between representatives of the Farmers* Union and the Labour Department with regard to dairy farm wages for the coming season. It Avas agreed that the rise under the "Gentlemen's agreement" was 2/6 for each farthing and this would make the adult workers* rate £2 17s 6d plus £1 for keep. These rates arc to come into force on the Ist August, 15)42, the date when the increase in the payment for butterfat comes into operation.
