EIGHT MONTHS' KILLINGS The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October tiJl May 30th, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings to that date total 10,59(5,5(57 carcases, this being a decrease of 97,880 carcases compared with the killings to May 31st last season. Wether mutton killings are 758,120 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,922,44(5 carcases, compared with 591,725 and 1,492,571 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses are as follows:— North Island Lamb 5,597,745 (5,578,828) Wether mutton 675,3(51 ( 500,378) E|we mutton 1,138,008 ( 870,201) South Island! Lamb 4,998,822 (5,115,619) Wether mutton 82,759 ( 91,347) Ewe mutton 784,4 38 ( (522,370) Frozen, beef production is now 477,989 quarters compared with 550,744 quarters last season. Porker killings total 195,989 carcases, a decrease of 5203, whilst baeoners total 222,582 carcases, a decrease of 76,976.
