OUR HOPE
i FOUNDING A NEW WORLD ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY SPEAKS The Archbishop of Canterbury in his latest book says: We all have reason to be grateful for the stabil-« , ity of our banking system, and for the ability and the integrity with which it is administered. Yet it —• cannot be justified in modern conditions that the banks, even the Bank of England, should in order to meet national needs, create credit which earns interest for themselves. The State must resume the right to control the issue and cancellation of every kind of money. Till thnt is done a body within the community will control what is vital to the welfare of the community, and that is a false principal . . . I' have touched very briefly on the immense subject of money and credit. I am sure it is vital, but rather . than go into further detail myself I will refer the reader to Sir Reginald Rowes admirable statement, "The Root of ail Evil'" published by \ the Economic Reform Club. *
