FERTILISER SUPPLIES
BASIS OF DISTRIBUTION Concern over the shortage of fertiliser was expressed at the annual conference of delegates to the North Taranaki provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union &t Inglewood on Friday. After considerable discussion a remit was carried that a scheme for distribution should be propounded to ensure that available supplies of. all fertw Users were distributed according to requirements, rather than on the basis of the previous year's supply, as Avas the case last year. It was recognised that there would be considerable difficulty in deciding an equitable basis of allocation. A suggestion by a delegate that fertiliser should be allocated on a per cow or on a butterfat bapisi did not find geeneral favour, delegates pointing out that the man on the pooirer class of country, which required fertiliser the most, would be penalised. The position of the man in the back country fattening lambs had also to be considered. A remit was also carried urging that in order to safeguard the user, regulations for all fertiliser mixtures should be provided similar to those for sto.ck remedies.
