LOCAL BODIES ASSOCIATION

THE attitude of the Whakatane Borough Council in turning down the proposal to form a Bay of Plenty amalgamation of local bodies will we feel find general endorsement in view of the increasing number of calls upon local government at the present time and the growing difficulties of transport. The scheme though it may be laudable in normal times, is as the Mayor of this town frankly put it superfluous at the present time.
