BLACKOUT FOR OTTAWA STATE BUILDINGS
More Ihiin 15(1 Ottawa buildings owned or routed by the. Dominion Government, are being equipped with materials for fighting incendiary bombs, and blackout eurtains have been installed in offices where essential .services would be conducted during an air raid, it has been disclosed. Public works officials said 1000 pails of sand had been placed in public buildings, two to each floor. Cans containing sand have also been distributed and more will be provided, those in charge of the work said. A, total ef ]()()() scoop shovels, specially designed for dealing with ineendiary bombs have been ordered and early delivery , is expected. The blackout eurtains have been Installed in national defence, police and : other buildings where officials must remain on duty when the city Ls blacked-out for a raid, ami in ofT'ces ■ where it is known essential services | will be continued. 1
