WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
TANEATUA GATHERING
The monthly meeting of the abov« Institute was held on Tuesday, May 12. In the absence of the president, Mrs Adams, the vice-president, Mrs McKenzie, opened the meeting, after which the secretary, Mrs Frost, read the minutes of the previous; meeting. There was a good attendance of members. The roll call, "Don't Cultivate a Crepe-de-chine taste on a Britway Income" brought forth a number of useful suggestions. A very interesting account of r-n eye-witness' experiences of the Tarawera eruption was read by Mrs Frost. Competitions, were as follows:: — Apple shortcake, Mrs Merrie 1; Mrs Hay ward 2. Coat hanger, Mrs Merrie 1. Flower, chrysanthemum, Mrs Hay ward 1; Mrs Gooch 2. A dainty afternoon tea was. served by the hostesses for the afternoon, Mesdames Gooch, Merrie, Rogers and, Gardiner. The National Anthem was sung in conclusion.
