WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB

Open day last Saturday afternoon was spent in a lour ball best ball bogey competition. Good weather prevailed and in spite of Home Guard; and E.P.S. duties , a number of enthusiasts were, out to enjoy it after the hectic rush of rationing, so forth and etc. The following were the best cards in: Syme and Butler one down; Bullard and Morpeth, two down. Sectional match play between Powdrcll and Spence. resulted in Spence prevailing over our doughty campaigner to the tune of 2 up. This credits each with a win in No. 1 section. Matches for next Saturday will consist of resumption of all sectional draws that should have been played last Saturday i.e. A will play D of each section, except in Section 1, the draw for which is as; follows: Powdrell v Rangi; Spen.cc v Hyland. The club captain will make arrangements at the club hcusei for those whose opponents are absent. As .sectional matches are lagging somewhat, a review of the* draw will be made after this Saturday and. , defaulters will be. penalised with losses after a week'si grace. So to get these- competitions completed players arc requested to contact their opponents and arrange to have their matches played: as soon as possible. Failing which, the negotiating player will be: c'redited with a win against one unable to play.
