LYCEUM CLUB

SOCIAL AFTERNOON On Friday afternoon the ladies, of the Lyceum Club met for the usual monthly social afternoon. The rooms were tastefully decorated, with bowls of hydrangeas and the ladies of the committee were hostesses for the afternoon. A one-act play called "Phoebe Rebels" was put on by Mrs. Appleby. Mrs James, Mrs A. Bridger, Mrs J. Conolly and Miss; B. Allan. This was produced by Mrs: Cole. Mrs X. Carter sang two songs, one of them "Ave Maria'" having a violin obligato played by Mrs Larmer. Mrs .lames also sang twice. Mrs: Ap-< pleby accompanying both ladies. Mrs- E. Armstrong and Miss Dreaver also, contributed to the programime by reciting. Before Lea was served Mrs Spence (presicicnt) Look the opportunity o< saying farewell to Mrs Hay ter speaking of her good work lor the club over the years. On behalf of the ladies she presented Mrs Hay ter with a boot: autographed by the members and a beautiful bouquet ef ruses. Mrs Hayter suitably replied saying it had. given her happiness to do anything in lu-r power for the club. A. delicious afternoon tea was served by the commilloe ladies.
