TYRES AND TUBES
oCEUSUS TO BE TAKEN THIS YEAR'S LICENSING When motorists rcli cense their vehicles this year they will be required to make a return of tyres and tubes held by them. It is assumed that there are lour tyres and tubes and a spare on each motor ear and truck and details of these will not be required. Anything in a motorist's possession beyond the normal complement of the vehicle must be specified. There are five types to be specified. They are as follows: —(a) New tyres; (b) unused retreads or recaps; (c) used but usable; (d) usable subject to repair, retread, or recapping; and (e) used audi useless. It is explained officially that the rubber situation is so serious that it is necessary to take a complete census. This applies equally to motorists who have already given certain information in response to official notices, the reason being that it is evident from returns received: that not all motorists have complied with previous requirements. It is emphasised that details of all tyres and tubes beyond the normal complement of each vehicle mi is!. b<> given regardless; of their condition. Tyres and tubes that are not u-able will he collected for rec! a mat ion purposes. Owners who have more than one vehicle may make one return covering ail their extra tyres and tubes. Except in Hit* case of useless tyres and Lubes, the size, make and type must be indicated. It has been suggested that motorists Avill probably, find, it more convenient to obtain beforehand the form required so that they will have it filled, in. when they apply to register their vehicles.
