RUSSIAN MARSHAL'S WELSH FATHER Following is an extract from a letter received by Mr ancl Mrs W. Roland-Ffoulkes, Tawelfryn, Corwen, from Mr and Mrs J. John, The: Lawn's, Crewkerne, Somerset. Mr Ffoulkes was for some years Surveyor to the Crewkerne U.D.C.. and Mr John has held the position of Assistant Headmaster of the Crewkerne Grammar School for several years. The Avriter of the letter says: "This will interest you both. The great Marshal Timosihenko, who is directing the Russian Army in the Southern sector of Russia, was born in Hughescfl:'ska;( now Stalino) in the same town as Jack (Mr John). He is six months younger than Jack. "Time's father went cut to Russia In 1880. Grandpai John went out in 1870. After being there for ten yearslie (Grandpa John) had six months' leave. "He really came back to this country to get technicians. He got four, and one named Charles Jenkins, who said to Mr John: 'Do you think that F could get a post in ycur cost office and come along back with you?' Grandpa' said: 'Yes. Get your passport and come along back with me.' Strategy "So he went, and after two years in Stalino Charles Jenkins married a Russian girl, and Timoshenko (Timothy Jenkins) is; their oldest son. "At an early age lie- went to the Russian Sandhurst. At 23 lie passed out of the Military College with the highest percentage of marks; in strategy. In the last war he was in the Tsar's army, a, captain. Now, of course, he is a Marshal of the Soviet Army 1 . "Right proud you Welsh people slioukli be of such a son of Wales.
