ORPHANAGE APPEALS
AUCKLAND INSTITUTIONS | COLLECTION AUTHORISED The Secretary of thei Auckland United Council lias written the Wliakatanc County Council stating that his council is again desirous ol making an appeal throughout the Province next September in the inteicsts of the various Orphanages and Children's Homes it represents. The Auckland City Council had set aside Friday, 25th September next as the day for the Orphanages street collection in the city, and permission was sought of all other Local Authorities in the Province to* make an appeal and take up a street collection in their respective areas on the same date or other most suitable date nearest to 2.")tli September. A
oopy of the- council s published accounts for the period dated 31st October 19-11 was enclosed. Last years appeal resulted in the distribution of £4200 among the various homes. The council decidcd yesterday to grant the authority applied for.
