THE HUNT

Pamela Burstall (original) In the New Forest my mother was born and so was my father. I ha*! been brought in from my wild life and broken in for a rich person's child. I am new .five ■ years of age, and am snow white, with a rough coat and my name is Flossy. One da3 r the groom gave me an extra rub down and put oa my bridle and saddle. I was led out and tied up outside my mistress's house where many other horses and dogs were. In a little while my mistress came out and was dressed in her riding gear which made her appearance look very smart. In a second we were trclting gently down a-shadj T lane. The dogs began to bark and my mistress gave me a light tap with her crop and I knew what that meant so I was olt in a flash. We came to a gate' on the other side of which the fields were spread out and the dogs were chasing a panicky hare. I cleared the gate and went galloping down the - track. It felt so nice to be galloping on soft turf without a care. Very soon the hunt came to a standstill for the hare was caught and we were heading for borne. On arriving home the groom came for me and after removing my saddle and bridle lie gave me a rub down. I was soon left alone to think of my exciting day at the 'hunt."
